In year 13 students have the opportunity to complete an extended project qualification. This is a one-year course. Students will choose to create an artefact, such as a short novel or a painting, or instead complete a dissertation on a discussion topic of their choice. The initial part of the course is designed to support students in developing the skills required to be successful in their choice of project. Students will then set their own targets in order to meet their individual project objectives. They will be assessed on their ability to manage their time, conduct research and analyse sources effectively, develop their ideas and evaluate their performance. This is an exciting opportunity for students to explore a subject area of their own choosing and develop skills that will be valuable in higher education.
Extended Project Qualification
- Manage – show that you can develop your own project question or design brief and construct a plan to enable you to achieve your objectives. Keep a log of your activities throughout the project.
- Research and analyse – investigate material that will help you to complete your project, commenting on reliability and referencing sources correctly in a bibliography.
- Develop and Realise – successfully carry out the objective you set yourself.
- Review – reflect on your progress over the year, commenting on the extent to which you achieved your aims. You will deliver a presentation to the class as part of this review section.
