School Procedure for Emergency Closure:

Sam Learning ScreenshotAdvice to parents in the event of possible emergency closure (e.g. snow)

In the event of extreme weather conditions please check if the school will be open:

1. Look at the school website. There will be a message on the Home Page
2. Listen to local radio stations:

  • BBC Radio Berkshire on 104.1,104.4, 95.4, 94.6 FM
  • Heart on 97.0, 102.9 FM
  • Reading on 107 FM

3. Check your mobile phone for information by text message

If there is snowfall overnight it is possible that opening the school will be delayed until 9.45 a.m. to allow staff to get to school.

If sufficient staff are unable to get to school, or if vehicle access to the school is not possible, or if the school site is unsafe, it may be necessary to close the school.

We will make the decision as early as we can. However, it will always be our intention to remain open whenever possible.

When it is unclear as to whether sufficient numbers of staff will be able to travel to school, at first the decision to delay opening until 9.45 a.m. will be taken. This information should be made public by 7.30 a.m.

A subsequent decision to open partially or to close, following a decision to delay opening until 9.45 a.m., should be made public by 8.30 a.m.
