Welcome to Technology

Head of Department: Mr SinnamonTechnology

In Design and Technology students experience a variety of specialist technology subjects. They combine designing and making skills to develop their own products and are encouraged to be creative in their approach. By exploring tasks, generating ideas, developing solutions, planning, making and evaluating, students learn to consider all areas of design. Ultimately, these skills enable students to identify good and bad design and how this can influence their lives.

Key Stage 3

In Years 7, 8 & 9 students follow a rotation system. In an Technologyacademic year all students will complete modules relating to Food Technology, Textiles, Graphics and Resistant Materials or Electronics. This gives students the opportunity to develop a broad range of knowledge and skills which relate to the modernworld and can be carried into specialist GCSE courses in Year 10.

Key Stage 4

In Years 10 &11 students can select from a wide range of specialist GCSE Design and Technology courses. Our current range includes Catering, Graphic Products, Resistant Materials and Textiles (based with Art and Design). This comprehensive range allows students to choose a subject area which they find interesting and can pursue with confidence to A-level if desired.Technology
