Head of Department: Miss Martin
PSHCCE is taught throughout the school in tutor groups. The course integrates many of the skills gained in other subject areas and covers topics necessary to become an active, questioning citizen.
Employers and colleges are not only looking for good GCSE grades, but also a wide range of skills and experiences to bring to the work place.
The modules that are studied equip students with those very skills and experiences which today's society demands:
Decision making and problem solving skills, knowledge of the education and vocational opportunities open to them, the political process and interview techniques, to give just a few examples.
Our PSHCCE course was singled out as good practice in our last OFSTED Inspection report:
"There is a particularly well-planned course in personal, social and health education, citizenship and cultural awareness which makes a good contribution to the students' personal development."
