The MFL department has four full-time language specialist teachers, supported by three part-time mother-tongue language assistants.

Sandhurst school is the only local school that offers Year 7 students the opportunity to study three languages - French, German and Spanish. This allows them to decide which language(s) they will take forward to the end of Key Stage 3 and then on to GCSE or even GCE A-Level.

All our classrooms are equipped with the latest technology. We have projectors, interactive whiteboards and digital audio equipment that support the learning of students. In addition we use fun motivational teaching methods to motivate student learning!

We also arrange a variety of trips abroad that offer students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the countries where their chosen languages are spoken e.g.

• Rhineland in Germany for Years 8 and 10;
• Paris in France for Year 9;
• Boulogne in France for Year 7.
