If you’ve decided to continue your study of History into the sixth form, you’ve made a wise choice!
In Year 12 you’ll study the Norman Conquest in detail finding out how William was able to gain complete control of England in a short period of time. You’ll also study the buboes of the Black Death and find out what made the peasants of England so revolting!
Your study will also encompass the period of Henry VIII from his accession in 1509 until his death in 1547. What made such an athletic, pious and gifted man turn into the tryant that we associate with him today?
In Year 13 you’re in for more treats. You’ll discover more about the time period in which people said “the world had turned upside down”. Why did the country erupt into civil war and who was the leader who insisted on being painted “warts and all”?
You will also step into the medieval mind of the crusaders of the twelfth century and discover about crusades and jihads. Why was there such tension between Christians and Muslims in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries?
