Geography

From September 2009, we have followed WJEC syllabus B for all new Geographers (the current Year 11 Geographers will continue to study OCR B Avery Hill).

The specification consists of three themes:

  1. Challenges of living in a built environment
  2. People and the natural world interactions
  3. People, work and development

These themes will be examined at the end of the two year course which will contribute towards 30% of the final grade.

Students will also develop their decision-making skills and will be examined by the ‘Development and Problem Solving’ written paper (45%) in the second year of the course.

The final 25% of the GCSE is derived from a ‘Controlled assessment’ which provides students with the opportunity to investigate processes in the real world and research contemporary issues.
