You will be aware from the national media that one of the teaching unions, the National Union of Teachers (NUT) is planning industrial action on Wednesday 26th March. This is a nationwide action organised by the NUT trade union over the pay and conditions of their members. In the event of strike action the school is only required to close if, in the opinion of the head, it is not safe to remain open. Indications from colleagues who are members of the NUT are that some intend to take action in the form of a strike on this date and therefore some lessons may be affected and students will be supervised by senior members of staff. Based on numbers, I do not anticipate at this stage that there will be a need to close the school and expect the school to remain open for all year groups.
